I saw something really cool in EXCEL just a minute ago.

Listed on the top part of the spreadsheet was a BOM (P/N, Desc, etc)
then shown below was a digital picture of the Sub assembly and all the items shown by Item #. All the items #'s matched the BOM liste above.

How can this be done? It would be utilized in fabulous ways here.......

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
It all depends on how detailed your Parts Database is, how knowledgeable you are in extracting the data, and how much resources you have to acquire and annotate photographs.

I was able to extract the drawing tree form our Parts Database, and built a routine to fetch the latest revision of each drawing from the Vaulted Drawing database... but because the Find Number is not recorded in our Parts Database, the BOM is not a perfect match... all members are there, but the order varies and I can't extract the Ballon Number.

Tghe method to do this will be completely unique to yoru company, and the results might be fabulous with very little effort, or pitiful despite major effort, or anything in between. It all depends.
