Not sure where to go with this, so I figured I'd try here first.
We have an Internal system we run on Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005, IIS, etc.
We host websites which access data on the SQL Server. These are only internal, not hosted on the internet.
We have recently added remote access via a satellite system. Our problem now, is that, even though we have a satellite at each end, the satellite systems are restricted to viewing only https sites. As we are only using it for company data and not blasting it out to the world, we are looking at how to create an internal cerificate so we can enable SSL. Is that something that's possible? We looked at the server certificate option in IIS, which only allowed us to create a request to create a certificate.
So, is it possible to just create/approve/run our own certificate locally and at the other end of our satellite system, without going to a certificate authority?
Thanks for any help!
ps, I'm currently overseas and don't get to surf the web much. If you can reply and shoot me a PM so I know there's a reply that would be great!
