Dear Excel Experts,

I have an Excel file with a folder structure. These folders can be distinguished into main folders and subfolders.

This is also described in a row whether it is a main folder or a subfolder. Now I would like to make sure that you only see the main folders initially but with a button you also see the corresponding subfolders.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Hello,

Assuming your list of folders is in column C, have you tried applying a filter? This will enable you to select whether you want to see master folders or sub folders or both.

1. Select any cell in the header (row 1).
2. Go to the data tab.
3. Select "filter".

You will notice drop-down arrows appear on the column headers and from here you will be able to select the ones you want to see within a few clicks.

Apologies if this is not the answer you were looking for.

I hope this helps.

Hi Chris,

Tnx for your reply.

I know the possibility of filtering. But I would like to be able to expand or expand in the excel file itself by main folder.
As shown a bit visually below.

And when you click on, say, the plus sign in cell C2 that the following pops out

Hopefully it's clearer now
