Is there a way to keep my document I have spent so many hours creating from being shared? I know I can lock the workbook and the sheets but I think I want not allow the sheet to be passed around willy nilly.
Thanks

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Apart from password protecting it, making it a hidden file, protecting the VBA project, etc.....No !
This is a pretty old sort of topic and there are other implications here. If you created this file at work, for work, everyone in the company basically has a right to use it, as it belongs to the company.
You could also look at Excel compilers ( google search)

Ok thanks
I am not worried about my company (school) I am worried about it being spread to other companies (schools). Once it leaves my company I lose control of my creation.

Why is "don't e-mail the worksheet to anyone" an insufficient solution?
Who, other than you, would give it to someone?

Welcome to the joys of Excel security !
I can understand yoy providing a boss co-worker with your workbook and then it escaping to the outside world
One thing to consider is if the concern is protecting your code, trying copying the worksheets to another workbook as values only. Simple way would be to Open a new workbook an then use CTRL and then click and drag the worksheets to the new workbook.
This will ensure the new workbook doesnt have code attached.

Other than that, keep one thing in mind, we have all created what we consider to be something fantastic, and it has taken hours of our time, and how did we get it to that stage ??, by learning from others / forums like this / sharing code snippets, etc.
Maybe a different outlook would be better....if what you have created is good...then be proud of the fact that others would like to use it as well. Shame to keep it squirrelled away, just for one user only !!

There are many people at many other schools that could use what I have done to benefit their schools, with no benefit to me.
I do not want to keep it from people I want to make sure I get the credit whether that be monetarially or otherwise. So I would like to be able to control how it gets spread. I understand there is piracy as people did and do with music and other files. I would like to be able to have more control over how it is spread than let's say charging one person for the file and then everyone getting a copy.
I am not worried about code being copied and never even thought of that. If I do as you say and drag it to another workbook will everything still work?
If I have aspirations of charging for it I have to beable to protect the distribution.
For example people purchase files via the Internet and they are allowed a password that gives them access to the file one time and those types of files cannot be shared. I have purchased chapters of book for grad school that expire after a certain number of days.
I do appreciate all of the help I have gotten from the people here and they have made my creative life much easier. I have never denied that fact. It is because of smart giving people like the ones on this forum that I have come to this question.
Maybe there is a way to do what I want
Thanks for all the input and help

Hey Brown
Firstly, I get the feeling I may have offended you. That was not my intention, and if I did, I sincerely apologise.
I do understand where your coming from, I am Govt as well...and some of my stuff has almost gone viral in my Dept....and beacuse my name is on it, I get people, I don't even know ringing me up and wanting code changes, "it doesn't do what I want", etc.
Making things secure, as you now realise, in Excel, is extremely difficult.
As mentioned earlier, consider using
1. An Excel compiler ( easily found on Google)
2. Making the worksheets into templates, so the file will be an .xlt rather than say, a .xls
3. making the project an Addin, so it has to be installed into Excel rather than simply opened as a workbook, and has a .xla file extension.

Other posters may be able to explain these in a quick post, but I think you would be better advised to Google them and have a detailed read on how they work and which might suit your needs.

You have not offended me, and I want to thank you for the information. I will look into it today.
