large excel file (>7mb)

my original file was 8mb and included various calculations including VLOOKUP.

i decided to use INDEX/INDIRECT in lieu of VLOOKUP - the size of this file is now 7mb. however, the smaller file takes much longer to save data and make changes. why would this be?

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).

The functions INDEX & MATCH is in general faster then LOOKUP-function and therefore the time for saving / calculate should be less.

However, the INDIRECT-function is not the fastest function but can be difficult to be replaced...
