is it possible to click on cell in spreadsheet and it will run a macro

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
Sure. Have a look at the SelectionChange event.

e.g. in the appropriate sheet module, put:

Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Address = "$A$5" Then MsgBox "You have selected A5"
End Sub

Directly clicking on a cell to run your own macro? Don't think so. But there is a way around.
Click on a cell and press SHIFT and click on EDIT and select COPY PICTURE and then select the concerned cell of your's and press SHIFT and click on EDIT and select PASTE PICTURE. Now you can assign a macro to it.

You can either use Oaktree's method and it just need the selection to be on the desired cell. Either by clicking on the cell or selecting it with arrow keys.
In the other way you are actually not clicking ON the CELL but only on an object placed over the cell.
