Hi all,

I have this situation:
In cell A1: c:\test\myfile.xlsx

I want to have a formula in B1 that get's the value of C1 in myfile.xlsx but this must be updated if in A1 I change the file name.

Is this possible?

Thank you,
FC.

Can Excel fill bagel flavors?
You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
You can use INDIRECT, but the source workbook must be open. Why don't you just Edit Links and change the Source?

Thank you Andrew for your answer,
I'm trying to do like this because I will build a table with several columns. In the first column I will insert the folder&file name to link and then in the other columns the formulas will be the same in each row of my table...
