Linking 2000+ cells to another spreadsheet

I have created a spreadsheet that performs calculations using data from another spreadsheet. It worked fine in the past when I only needed to link around 50 cells to another spreadsheet.

Now, I have linked 3000 - 4000 cells to another spreadsheet so each time when I open it, it takes several minutes to calculate / update all links.

Is there a more efficient way to link a few thousand of cells to another spreadsheet in order to retrieve data on a daily basis?:eeek:

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
You could import the other spread sheets data into the current spread sheet on a new sheet, then use it from there.

I've never been a fan of linking into other sheets, I rather just grab all the data from them through an export/import and then do the calculations in 1 place.

I need to update the links every day. The 'master' spreadsheet contains the data which I update every day and which are used by other spreadsheet's for calculations. So rather than entering the same data into 7 or so spreasdheets every day, I enter it into one spreadsheet and link the other 7 spreasdheets with caclulations models to it.

So copying all the data every day into 7 different calculation spreadsheets is not an option.

Any ideas?
