Hi,

I was wondering if someone can help me with the following request.

I am trying to link a cell in one spreadsheet to another cell in a different spreadsheet. Once the linked cell is updated it will update the other cell in the different spreadsheet.

I do not know the formula to use or the process of adding the link.

It is supposed to look something like this, but I am not sure how they did this. The part that I don't know how to do is the green part. I tried to do a copy paste linl, but I was getting some strange results.

=$C$11*'\\usnt42\psf\ES&OP\Surf Alkox - Lubes & BO\Balances\[Lubricants and BO S&OP Balances.xls]OA Rx2'!N56

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Assume that the cell you normally update is in sheet 1, Cell A2. the cell you wished linked is in sheet 2, cell C2.

In sheet 2 cell C2 your formula is
=Sheet1!A2

Now anything entered in Sheet 1, cell A2 will be reflected (updated) in Sheet 2 cell C2
change cell references and sheet references to what you require.

Cheers.

If you have the other workbook open that you want to link, and point at it while generating a formula, then the path will be generated automatically, although it will not be visible while the other book is open in the same Excel session. Once the other book is closed the full link path will appear in the formula.
