Linking to Linked Files - Excel Closed when links refreshed.

I have a Spreadsheet (C) which links to a second SS (B)which in turn links to other SS (A).

When I try to refresh the links in ss (C) Excel just closes without any error messages.

The file will open ok as long as links are not refreshed. If the linked spreadsheet (B) is also open, then the links still update.

I'm using Excel2000 on windows XP. The same file still works on the same version of Excel on windows NT ??!

Any ideas what the problem is, and how to get around it?
