I have 5 multiple workbooks. They are used by 5 data entry people who enters data on a regular on basis. These 5 workbooks are linked to a master workbook.

this master workbook is in turn used as a source data to create a pivot table report. This report is used by management.

how do i make sure that management gets the most to date data when they read the report? The master workbook does not get the most recent data if the master is opened/saved. if it is not opened/saved it does not get the most up to data.

for instance, the last time master workbook is opened and saved was 1-Oct-2011. So what ever data is entered on 2-oct-2011 does not get updated in master workbook even though the latter is linked.

is there any way to do it without macro?

Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
One possibility would be to summarize your data in the same file that you use to generate your pivot table report.

Why don't you want to use VBA? It would be much easier.
