Links question

Hi (sorry for the vague title)

Is it possible to update the links to a workbook automatically when the linked workbook is open, but for the links to stay "remembered" if the linked book is closed?

I have formulae that lookup info on the linked book. And when that book is closed the formulae revert to #REF! errors as soon as the w/b recalculates. I need a fix for this

Alternatively can I code the linked workbook so that it refuses to close while my main w/b is still open?

many thanks

Damo

Links work fine to closed workbooks as long as you are not using certain functions to access the data. Show some of your formulas that reference the links.
