Does anyone know how Excel actually performs it links? Say between two seperate sources. (Wookbooks or Data Bases)
Does Excel record and follow a path and there fore everthing must remain in its orginal location?
Or does Excel somehow perform a search for the needed source file?
The reason for my question is this, Can I move either the source and or target files without having to reestablish all the links?

Excel Facts

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
As far as I know, the link will follow the path that you originally insert in it. If you move the source to a different folder, or rename the file, the link becomes invalid.

Thanks!
That what I suspected.
I can however put the source wookbook and all its associated files in one folder and then move it can't I?
If in hind sight I find I must move a file is there any indication, warning, or error message that the workbood contains invalid link?
