Locating date cells in custom autofilter

I am trying to set up the custom autofilter to return results that contain the date 2012. The cells have been formatted 4/3/11. When I select custom and cell contains 2012 it doesn't return any results.

How can I set up the filter to show results that have the 2012 dates?
