Hello All...
I cant remember how to lock a set of rows, so when I scroll up/down, a selected row stays stationary, while the rest of the rows scroll. Useful for labels and you want to scroll down to the bottom of the page,k yet retain the labels above so they stay in view.
I know it's easy to select the row to remain stationary, I just cant remember for the life of me how to do it?
Thanks
Charles

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Freeze Panes is in the Window portion of the Layout tab in Excel 2011. (Or under the Window Menu item)

I have the same problem as the creator of this post. However i'm using Excel XP / 2007. The only option is to freeze panes and that freezes entire blocks of cells and not the selected top row.

I know i've done this before but can't remember how to freeze just the top row.

any ideas?

in excel 2007 or higher

select cells where you want to lock, and then press Alt, W, F, F

In normal mode, scroll the screen until the desired stationary row(s) are at the top of the screen.
Select the entire row of the first mobile row.

i.e. if your (always visible) headers are in row 3, scroll the screen until row 3 is at the top of the screen and then select all of row 4.

Then, invoking Freeze Panes will keep the desired row at the top of the screen.
