Hi,

I have two excel documents (with different names) that talk to each other via macros. If two people have these documents open and are editing it screws with the macros, so is there a way to stop people opening one if the other is open? I know how to stop 2 copies of one document being open, but this is slightly different.

Thanks,

Dave

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Actually I'll try and explain it better.

Workbook A is open by user.

Workbook B is opened by different user. Message appears "Workbook A is open and will interferre with this workbook." Workbook B auto closes.

That's what I want!

Thanks very much in advance.

try something like this

Code:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Workbooks.Open Filename:="c:\a.xls"  ' change this to suit
 If ActiveWorkbook.ReadOnly = True Then
 ActiveWorkbook.Close False
 resp = MsgBox("Workbook A is read only so your at stuffed. This workbook is gonna close", vbExclamation)
 ThisWorkbook.Close False
 End If

End Sub

note that it goes in the 'ThisWorkbook' module of workbook B
