Locking Rows

Hello everyone!

I have a spreadsheet of clients, each with a unique ID and some other information about themselves.

When I sort by any of the fields (name, company number etc.), It moves them around to sort them, but the IDs don't move with them. So for example let's say i have:

Id: 01 Name: Eric Cartman
Id: 02 Name: Andrea Cartman

And I sort by name, it becomes:

Id: 01 Name: Andrea Cartman
Id: 02 Name: Eric Cartman

When I sort something, I want the entire row to shift, along with the ID.
Any ideas?

If you're sorting by Column, make sure "Expand the selection" is checked.

Is there a way to "lock" this? I've got other people working on this spreadsheet and if they forget to do it, it will be quite the hassle to fix.

For my Excel 2016, the "Expand the selection" is chosen by Default, so user would just click "Sort",
In order to change this setting, user would actually need to manually change it to "Continue with current selection".
And Excel would revert Back to "Expand the selection" by default next time.
