In Sheet1 I have =today() in cell B2

In Dates I have a range of dates in week order per row (A1:G100) and in Col H I have week numbers.

In Sheet1 I want to do a lookup to find the date (based on B2) in the range and return the week number from col H.

I know I can use INDEX and MATCH but thats about as far as I can go :(

Can someone help me out here please?

Thanks
Lee

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Hi Lee

You only need to do a VLOOKUP with 4th argument as TRUE on the dates in Column A:

=VLOOKUP(B2,A1:H100,8,TRUE)

assuming you meet week dates are earliest in A col to latest (ie 6 days later) in G col.

Maybe this:

<b>Excel 2007</b><table cellpadding="2.5px" rules="all" style=";background-color: #FFFFFF;border: 1px solid;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #A6AAB6"><colgroup><col width="25px" style="background-color: #E0E0F0" /><col /><col /></colgroup><thead><tr style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;text-align: center;color: #161120"><th></th><th>B</th><th>C</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">1</td><td style="text-align: center;;">Date</td><td style="text-align: center;;">Result</td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">2</td><td style="text-align: center;;">2/1/2011</td><td style="text-align: center;;">W5</td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">3</td><td style="text-align: center;;"></td><td style="text-align: center;;"></td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">4</td><td style="text-align: center;;">********</td><td style="text-align: center;;">********</td></tr></tbody></table><p style="width:3.6em;font-weight:bold;margin:0;padding:0.2em 0.6em 0.2em 0.5em;border: 1px solid #A6AAB6;border-top:none;text-align: center;background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120">Sheet1</p><br /><br /><table width="85%" cellpadding="2.5px" rules="all" style=";border: 2px solid black;border-collapse:collapse;padding: 0.4em;background-color: #FFFFFF" ><tr><td style="padding:6px" ><b>Worksheet Formulas</b><table cellpadding="2.5px" width="100%" rules="all" style="border: 1px solid;text-align:center;background-color: #FFFFFF;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #A6AAB6"><thead><tr style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120"><th width="10px">Cell</th><th style="text-align:left;padding-left:5px;">Formula</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><th width="10px" style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120">C2</th><td style="text-align:left">=INDEX(<font color="Blue">Dates!H2:H21,SUMPRODUCT(<font color="Red">--(<font color="Green">B2=Dates!A2:G21</font>),(<font color="Green">ROW(<font color="Purple">Dates!A2:A21</font>)-ROW(<font color="Purple">A2</font>)+1</font>)*{1,1,1,1,1,1,1}</font>)</font>)</td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></table><br />

whilst we're talking lookups...

When I try this:

=VLOOKUP(L11,B2:C20,2,FALSE)-(P11+(Q11*$A$3)+(R11*$A$3)+S11)

i get a #VALUE! error

when I break the formula into two pieces i get 22 for the lookup and 17 for the 2nd part which I would expect to return a value of 5.
