I use BIGNUM to find the last non-empty cell in a column--say column B. What I want to do is use BIGNUM for find the last non-empty cell in column B then have it return the value of the cell in the column
immediately to the left of the last non-empty cell. so if the last non empty cell in column B is row 654, I want it to return the value in A654.

Thanks for any Help

Since LOOKUP doesn't return a range reference, we can't use an OFFSET. However, try:

=INDEX(A:A,MATCH(BigNum,B:B))
