Givens:-
Lot= 12 jobs

Each model starts with a previously known lot number and job number.
quantity of each model.
Each model may enter many times in one day but with different colours.

I want to find an equation to calculate the two (To-lot/job) coloumns

here's an example of what i do manually to find these numbers
model rate =30
starting lot =923
starting job = 7
remaining jobs in lot 923 = (12-7+1=6) because job number 7 is included.
remaining needed jobs to finish 30 products = 30-6=24
24/12= 2 ==> 2 more lots needed.
final answer ==> lot 923+(2) lots = lot no. 925
but lot 925 has 12 jobs ==> at which job should we end?
==> To job 12

Could any one help me please in this?.. i do this calculation on daily basis for so many models and it consumes more than 4 hours of my working day and i have to stay late at work every day.

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().

How about something like...


In your Lot.No from column...

Use ...

=LOOKUP(2,1/($B$4:B5=B6),$G$4:G5)

This will pull the last value from your from column so you have a start point.

1st entry per model will need to be typed otherwise it has nothing to lookup against.

In your lot No To column..

=(+D4-(H4-F4+1))/12+E4

How are the Job numbers generated?

Or are they pulled through from somewhere else?

The From coloumns (either lot or job) are calculated easily as the following
=IF(H25=15,G25+1,G25)
=IF(to lot of the previous rate=12, this lot number+1, this lot number)
for the from jobs
=IF(H25=15,1,H25+1)
=IF(to job of the previous rate=12, 1, this job number +1)
My problem is with the (To lot, To job)
would you please tell me in which cells yu pur the table so i can generate the equation you added in your post and see if it worked?

I think i've worked out what you want....

In the Lot No From

Code: 
=IF(LOOKUP(2,1/($B$4:B5=B6),$H$4:H5)=12,LOOKUP(2,1/($B$4:B5=B6),$G$4:G5)+1,LOOKUP(2,1/($B$4:B5=B6),$G$4:G5))

Job No From

Code: 
=IF(LOOKUP(2,1/($B$4:B5=B6),$H$4:H5)=12,1,LOOKUP(2,1/($B$4:B5=B6),$H$4:H5)+1)

Lot No TO

Code: 
=(+D4-(H4-F4+1))/12+E4

Job No to

Code: 
=IF((+D4/12-ROUNDDOWN(D4/12,0))*12+F4-1>12,((+D4/12-ROUNDDOWN(D4/12,0))*12+F4-1-12),(+D4/12-ROUNDDOWN(D4/12,0))*12+F4-1)



If you use these formula, when you enter the model number, the From boxes will be populated for you.

Then using the model rate you enter, the 2 values will be generated.
