I have created a macro that creates a text file with the information above set out as

[Shortcut].
Name = AAA-Atradius 2 Contract Mgt
Type = 0
Server = GL04
Join = 0
Ticket = CO0000000000806

Which it has to remain.

My problem is that I want the macro to create either (a) a seperate text file for each line (1 for line 2, one for line 3 etc etc) or even better (b) create a file for the specific line i am on. For example if i happended to click on D5 and then pressed the macro key it would onyl create a txt file for line 5, same if i clicked on E6, it would only create a file for line 6.

I would be grateful if you could highlight the code you insert into my macro as it may be useful for other reports i run

@ Richard, your right, there is a new file saved for each row (so i end up with 387 files). however the column G does have a unique entry in each row although they do not go in numeric order. what i did notice was that when i sorted the excel sheet by contract number (Column G) the first file created was fine, the second files contained the contents of the first file and what was supposed to be in the second file, the third contained the contents of the first and second and waht was supposed to be in the third and so on and so on. There doesnt have to be any particular ordering on the sheet so if i can make it easier in anyway then let me know

@Norie, it works!! but what i don't understand or can see in the code is that it keeps adding "temp" to the beggining of the file names

Ah yes, you need to reinitialise the string variable at each iteration of the loop:

I see it now, my mistake . i had changed the file path and forgot to [ut the last "\". the folder it was aimed at just so happened to be called "Temp" :D
