Macro that exports to excel

I created a macro in access that runs a query and exports the results to an excel spreadsheet. I have a pivot table that on a separate tab that uses the results from the export. Is there a way to have the macro erase the information in the spreadsheet before transfering the results and allow the pivot table refresh with the new data?
