Macro to change a future dated date to today's date

Hello,

I need to change a date if it is future date to today's date in this line and I am unable to figure it out.
Example:
.Range("N & extLR).Value = Format(srcSRS.Range("J" & cel.Row), "mm/dd/yyyy")
I need this to be If the date in the source file is greater than today's date then return today's date.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If srcSRS.Range("J" & cel.Row) > Date Then
    .Range("N" & extLR).Value = Format(Date, "mm/dd/yyyy")
Else
    .Range("N" & extLR).Value = Format(srcSRS.Range("J" & cel.Row), "mm/dd/yyyy")
End If
