I have a spreadsheet that imports xml data files.
Rather than have the user go to the Developer Tab and click Import, I would like to have a button on a form they can click that opens the File Open dialog so they can browse and choose the file.
I've seen the application.getopenfilename macro, but I don't know if I can use that.
Thanks,
Bob

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
Something like this might work for you:
Code:
Sub DoryRules()
ActiveWorkbook.XmlImport URL:=Application.GetOpenFilename, ImportMap:= _
        Nothing, Overwrite:=True, Destination:=Range("$A$17")
End Sub
I've tested it and it works, but I've not used this functionality before, so I'm not sure if you need to specify an ImportMap (or what that would even look like).

That worked! Thanks.
I specified the map that I'm using in the spreadsheet (xsd file). If you don't provide a map, Excel can infer one from the data file.
