Mapping a number to filling in a dynamic number of cells

Dear All,

I have a list of numbers that represent time (days etc.) and I would like to map these to fill in the amount of cells that the number represents (e.g. '3' would fill in 3 cells in a horizontal row; '8' would fill in 8 cells in a horizontal row; etc.) with a background fill colour of my choosing.

Essentially, to create a mini GANTT type chart.

Please could anyone help?
