Dear all,

Without using a lookup can I match my criteria in one row and then select the corresponding value in the same column in the next specified row. see example below

I want to extract the value in row 12 that matches my criteria Wk30 in row 8

Your formula should be:

=INDEX(DI6:EF6,MATCH("Wk30",DI3:EF3,FALSE))

FALSE is an argument of the MATCH function, not the INDEX function.

Thank you, for some reason it only works if I control alt and return, otherwise it won't accept the bracket, also when I change the variable to Wk30 it comes back as #ref"!

Sorry, I don't know what "control alt and return" does. You can use a cell reference or a named range in place of "Wk30".
