Maximum rows access can handle

Hello,

I am considering using access to analyse some data and am wondering whether access would be able to handle the number of rows required. I know that access is limited by file size rather than a formal row limit, but I was wondering if any of you have practical experience of doing anything this large in access.
The largest table would contain approximately 40 million rows with 3 fields.
If this is too big I would either have to consolidate the data each week giving approximately 5.7 milliion rows.

Thanks,

Peter

Hello

And MS SQL Server, is that an option ?

Wigi,

The reason I was looking at access as the first option rather than sql server is that I think it will be easier to persuade my IT department to give me access.

I don't know the practical limit in Access, but if it's an issue SQL Server Express could be another option, especially since it's free.
