Hi

I think this is a longshot but excel is a powerful tool so its worth a try.

Would it be possible to set a the format of one cell (A1) depending on whats in A3.

So if A3 equals "A" then then format would be "0.00"
if A3 equals "B" then the format would be "###/###" (fraction)

Thanks

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce

You could use conditional formatting:
First format cell A1 as General. Then use two conditional format rules as follows: (1) select cell A1 and apply the format rule
=A3="A" with a number format "0.00", (2) select cell A1 and apply the rule =A3="B" with a fractional format "# ???/???"
