I have 20 years' worth of baseball stats regarding various outcomes of games.

The person I did this for is wanting to do "Mean Reverting" on my results.

Is that something I can do in Excel?

Thanks

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Jeffrey, can you pile a few more words around 'mean reverting?'

mm, all I know is that statistically most outcomes will revert to their mean values. . .. so I guess Variance is a factor. I just googled it and there is a very complicated spreadsheet that can be download with 360 lines of code . . . so this may be outside the scope of Mr. Excel . . . .:(

Excel has a dazzling variety of statistical tools, so the answer to "Can Excel do this?" is "Yes."

The question is "What?"

But I am not sure if Mean Reverting is just a term that tries to prove that statistical variances will usually "revert to their means."

I may just need to compute variance and then try to compare that to the means . .. .

The guy I am working for knows how to do this . . but i would like to have a leg up on him . . .
