I have this formula that calculates an average for a set range
can this be adjusted to calculate the median

Thanks

=SUMIF($A$2:$A$800,A2,$D$2:$D$800)/MAX(1,COUNTIF($A$2:$A$800,A2))

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Code:
=MEDIAN(IF(A:A="x",D:D,""))

thinking this will work if used as an array function
