Merging identical cells

Hi,

Pls help i merging the cells .Sample input and output reqiuired is pasted below.

I would avoid merged cells if I were you. If you want to suppress the display of the second and subsequent header1 entries you can use conditional formatting with the formula:

=COUNTIF(A$2:A2,A2)>1

and a white font.

Alternatively, you can make a PivotTable off this data, and it'll automatically do the cell merging for you.

1. Enter both header1 and header2 as Row Labels.
2. Set Report Layout to Show in Tabular Form.
3. Turn off Subtotals and Grand Totals.
4. In Options/Display, unclick Show expand/collapse buttons.
