I have a large amount of extracted data, including a code number in H:H and a value in M:M. The code numbers appear multiple times in the list.
In a separate place (column AA) I have a list of the valid code numbers with no duplicates. In AB1 I want the minimum value from M:M that relates to the code in AA1

Try this array formula**:

=MIN(IF(H$2:H$20=AA2,M$2:M$20))

** array formulas need to be entered using the key
combination of CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just ENTER).
Hold down both the CTRL key and the SHIFT key
then hit ENTER.

Copy down as needed. Adjust the ranges to suit.
