I have a list of serial numbers in column A which should increment by 1. I would like to find a way of showing if there are any numbers missing in the sequence. Is this possible?

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
I typically set up a conditional format for checks like that.

Starting w/your 2nd entry, select Format, Conditional Formatting from the menu bar and enter:
Formula Is =ABS(A2-A1)<>1
Format Pattern Red (for example)

Copy format down as necessary.

...oops, didn't see other similar post
