Is there a way to modify the MONTH() function to return names of months? For example, I have a cell, B5, with 8/16/2011.

Currently I can do =MONTH(B5) to return "8"

Is there a way to modify it so it would be: =MONTH(B5) --> "August" ...?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
If it's just for display, you can also do it without the function:

=B5

and custom format the cell as mmmm
