Hi All -

I have a pivot table that gets updated on a weekly basis. I copy the new sets data and paste it at the end of this pivot table resource range and refresh the table.

I just copied and pasted last weeks data but for some reason the file size was reduced from 23,000KB to 14,000KB with more data. Is this possible?

Presumably there are other sheets in your file, besides just the "pivot table resource" sheet? Sometimes, particularly on a sheet that contains a pivot table, Excel will get a bit confused... If you lay out the pivot table to contain 10,000 rows for example, but then remove some row fields so that it is now 100 rows, Excel may still think the last row is 10,000 - and it will save the file as such. Later someone can go in and delete rows 101 to 10,000 and the file size will shrink. It could be something like this.

Or maybe there was another sheet in the file that got modified or removed. Or maybe multiple copies of the pivot table were in the file, but each copy was keeping its own pivot cache instead of sharing, and one or more of the pivots was deleted... Or if the file was xls and then saved as xlsx, or saved from xlsx to xlsb, that could cut down the size also without other modifications.
