More of a maths question really. Percentages, specifically...

Hi, I am not a maths whizz, and percentages are the one thing that for some reason flumux me most often, although I am getting better. I got a B for GCSE... I am sure there are many people here who are better than me and I would appreciate their help.

Anyhoo... I have an input cell into which I need to put a percentage value that will drive formulae in other cells. The formulae aren't the problem... but... if any one can help me with what I need in the input cell in this example I would be very happy.

OK

- We (charity) have two major funders, A and B for the sake of argument.
- For the month of June (Only June) untill the 9th Funder A is paying for 100% of our salaries. I am willing to accpet that this 30% of the month.
- From the 9th to the 30th, Funder A is paying for 85%, and Funder B is paying for 15%.

The question is - overall for the month of June, what percentage is each funder paying for.

If you could help me that would be great, and there will be an extra prize (which is me being even happier) if you could explain why and how?! Thank you!

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Hello Bryony,

Funder B is paying for only 15% of 70% of the month, i.e.

=15%*70%

=10.5%

Funder A pays for the rest i.e.

=100%-10.5%=89.5%
