Can someone please advise how I can move data from one tab to another based on criteria without just copying a pasting each section one by one? For example I have a huge amount of data and at the end of each section is the work "exit", so each time the word "exit" appears I want take the data and move it to a new tab. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you,

are you wanting to cut and paste the whole row? or just copy the row?

are you wanting to use vba for this? or would you prefer to just use the filter function?

<DIR>What I am trying to accomplish is copy the text between two identifiers. These start and end points have data that I want to put into a new tab each time the script/filter encounters them.

If there is a way to do this with filtering that sounds much simpler than using VBA. However, I am not opposed to using VBA if it's not too complicated of a macro.

Unfortunately, the data I am working with is very sensitive and I cannot post it. Below is something similar.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
I want to take the data from user1234 to where he exits and puts it into a new sheet... and so on for the next user. Hope this helps.<o:p></o:p>

[data]<o:p></o:p>
log<o:p></o:p>
user1234<o:p></o:p>

For data to become information, it must be interpreted and take on a meaning. For example, the height of Mt. Everest is generally considered as "data", a book on Mt. Everest geological characteristics may be considered as "information", and a report containing practical information on the best way to reach Mt. Everest's peak may be considered as "knowledge".<o:p></o:p>
Information as a concept bears a diversity of meanings, from everyday usage to technical settings. Generally speaking, the concept of information is closely related to notions of constraint, communication, control, data, form, instruction, knowledge, meaning, mental stimulus, pattern, perception, and representation.<o:p></o:p>
exit<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
user1234<o:p></o:p>
13123.0000,22<o:p></o:p>
********************<o:p></o:p>
The term data refers to qualitative or quantitative attributes of a variable or set of variables. Data (plural of "datum") are typically the results of measurements and can be the basis of graphs, images, or observations of a set of variables. Data are often viewed as the lowest level of abstraction from which information and then knowledge are derived. Raw data, i.e. unprocessed data, refers to a collection of numbers, characters, images or other outputs from devices that collect information to convert physical quantities into symbols.<o:p></o:p>

[/data]<o:p></o:p>

is this all in one cell? is it done by columns? is it done by row?
I don't understand your problem.

Try this though

ctrl+a
menubar>data>filter
click on the flag at the top of the column that has your "exit" keyword
textfilters> ends with> "exit"

<DIR>All of this data is in one column.
I need the data pulled automatically from where it starts with "user" and ends with "exit"... need that specific data exported to a new sheet or tab.
</DIR>
