I am trying to import a text file into MS Access using External Data, Text file option in MS Access 2007 version. I keep getting an error message saying "search key not found in any record". Other details are : I am trying to download with delimited option and first row contains field names and I allow Access to choose its primary key.

Appreciate if anyone can let me know to fix the issue.

thanks
Dan

Are any of the field names 'unusual'? eg errant spaces, illegal characters

The fields all look normal. The only special characters they have are the underscores "_" that appear instead of spaces.

But are they 'normal'?

Even a leading space, which you might not see, might cause problems.

A problem is the only thing I can think is the problem.

The usual solution is to change the names to make sure they are OK.

If that doesn't work you can try things like not telling Access the first row has field names, or something to do with Indexes.

The first is easy to do, just uncheck the option when importing, the second I'm not too sure about - I've never had to use it.
