Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Try

=TRIM(MID(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"""",REPT(" ",100)),100,100))

Try:
Code:
Sub getinv()
With WorksheetFunction
    st = .Search("""", Range("A2"))
    nw = Mid(Range("A2"), st + 1, Len(Range("A2")) - st)
    nd = .Sum(.Search("""", nw) + st, -1)
    sword = Mid(Range("A2"), st + 1, nd - st)
    MsgBox sword
End With
End Sub

From the thread title I don't think vba is what is being requested. However, if it was, you might consider this more direct approach
Code:
Sub Extract()
    Dim s As String, a As String

    s = Range("A2").Value
    a = Split(s, """")(1)
    MsgBox a
End Sub
