Hi, the formula below is from here. I thought it'd be better to start new thread because i need to know the logical explaintion...

What does 13 do in this formula? Thank you so much for helping.:)

'INT((13+DAY(A1)-WEEKDAY(A1-5))/7)

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
"Presumably the 1st of the month is always in week 1 and then week 2 starts from the first Friday after the 1st?"

In more straightforward terms:

If the week is described as beginning on Friday and ending on Thursday (Fri-Thurs = 1 week), and week 2 must start on a friday after the first week,
only 13 days can pass until the week starts.

For Example:

The first of the new month (July) is on a saturday; therefore, Friday the 7th is Week 1 of July (Days 1-6 of July are part of the final week of June). This means that the 13th is a Thursday, which marks the end of the first week. This the worst case scenario--a maximum of 13 days can pass in a month which constitutes the first week.

make sense?

1st friday after date 1 of the month is always friday, i never knew that.
Great thanks again!

So are you saying that we are mixing 13 here becuase max number 1st week can have is 13 starting from ending week of previous month and 1st week of current month?
Sorry if 'm not understanding...:oops::banghead:
