i have used data validation to create a dropdown for roughly 50 or so exceptions which are specific. for example a specific team number within a department of a business.
i am looking for a formula which will take the non-specific team name (i.e the department name) if the team(department) is selected from the list (which contains a mix of departments).
I am then looking for the information in another cell to be selected to create a sum for the non-specific department.
therefore, If the TEAM is selected, I want Excel to realise this is fed into a department and calculate the SUM of a column with these boundaries, can somone help???
