These are my columns. Column A is a Job number. Column B is hours that it took to complete job. Column C is whether the job was (D)discarded or (K) keep. this is just one example of a spead sheet i have with hundreds of different job numbers(column A). I need to find a way to identify all similar job numbers(A) that have both K and D in column C. Then i want to find a way to add up hours for all discarded jobs(D) that were identified> Please help. Im stumped.

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Welcome to MrExcel Board....

sounds like a pivot table would work, here is a sample

Excel Workbook
ABCD
3Sum of HoursD or K
4Job NumberDKGrand Total

Sounds like you need to make a pivot table. There are plenty of tutorials around if you need help.
