need to copy cell to empty cells in a range

Hi I need some help. I have data in a column where cell A1 has data followed by multiple cells with no data, then another cell with data followed by one or more cells with no data, and continuing down a particular column.

e.g.

Real Data
(null)
(null)
(null)
(null)
Real Data
(null)
(null)
Real Data
(null)
(null)
(null)
etc.

I need a solution whereby I can define a range, and have excel take the Real Data and insert it into each null cell that follows until it reaches the next cell wtih data, then takes that real data and inserts it into each null cell that follows and continues the loop until the end of the defined range.

First delete the null data and select the entire cell from first to till End of the line and select F5 and Alt+S and K(That is selecting the blank cells) and give (=)the uppercell and click Ctrl+Enter. The data vil get pasted in the blank cells.

I am using excel 2007 (not sure if mentioned that earlier). I am confused about the comment above. Can you explain further. Specifically and give (=)the uppercell
