not a valid win32 application?

My wife just got a new computer and I transfered her files from her old computer to the new one. All of her files open (from the folder they are located within) with the exception of the excel files.

When you try to open the excel files from their location, the following error message is prompted: C:/file location.xlsx "is not a valid Win32 Application"

When I open Excel first and go to "open" and then select the same file - it opens that way. My wife however, thinks the extra step is unneccesary and wants me to find a cure - thats why I'm here :)

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!!!!!
