Hi,
I was wondering if one could identify which nth element is selected from a drop down validation box. Can this be done by macro's?
I have several validation boxes and would like to identify for all of them which element is choosen by getting their rank number in the validation list.
Kind regards,
Tsjai

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
Say you have data validation in B1 using the list in A1:A10. This formula:

=MATCH(B1,A1:A10,FALSE)

will return the index number of the selected item.

Try something like...

=MATCH(A2,DVListA,0)

where A2 is a data-validated cell and DVListA is the list which is used as Source in A2.

Thx. This does the what I need.
Is it correct that no code can be created that manipulates validation lists?
