I want to reference a cell based on the result of a formula.

For example, I want to reference cell A(value returned from match formula), so that if the match formula result was 2, i could say =IF(A(MATCH(...)), [...] , [...]) and excel would read it as =IF(A2, [...] , [...]).

Thanks in advance for the help.

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
You want to read up on the OFFSET function.
