I have tried working this out but keep coming to a dead end so thought I'd ask the experts.
I want to simply open a comma delimited file in a macro but can't (even with all the prompts and hints).

This is the line I have so far:

Workbooks.Open NN090226.dat, delimiter:=

but can't work out what comes next or if something should come before.

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

Hi

Have you tried recording a macro of yourself performing this action and then looking at the code produced?

Yes - bit since "upgrading" to 2007 recording macros is a bit hit and miss (and always get blank info when opening files, which is a real pain when they are fixed width).

Thanks anyway

Try this:

Code:
Workbooks.OpenText filename:="NN090226.dat", _
    dataType:=xlDelimited, Comma:=True
