Hi,

I'd like to create a rule in Outlook that filters messages if they begin with a 4 digit number, the number is random so I'm guessing I need a pattern matching type rule? But not sure how to do this when I try to set up a rule.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance,
Jack

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Just found this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...eate-a-script-for-the-rules-wizard-in-outlook

Rich (BB code):
Sub CustomMailMessageRule(Item As Outlook.MailItem) MsgBox "Mail message arrived: " & Item.Subject
End Sub
So I'm guessing it may be something like:
Rich (BB code):
Sub CustomMailMove(Item As Outlook.MailItem)
Dim str as String
 If Left$(Header, 4) Like [0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9] Then
'If header is "3475 - Peter Smith Social" str = "3475 - Peter Smith"
str = <see above, need to figure out string until 4th space and return left of>
   Create Outlook.Folder(str)
 End If
End Sub
Attempt at code, expecting it to be incorrect
