Passing userform output to macro parameter

I am familiar with updating worksheet cells with the contents of userform text and combo boxes but not with transfering to a macro parameter.

I am writing an archive macro in which the user specifies a cutoff date referring to a 'risk retired date' column on a 'risk log' worksheet, using the cutoff date (=< date) as an autofilter, then copying visible rows to a 'retired risks' worksheet, returning to the 'risk log' worksheet and deleting the range of rows which should only get the visible rows.

The userform will be called by the 'archive' macro. if I have declared a variable, rcutoff (for risk cutoff date), as a date and then invoke the user form and input a date, can I use the 'ok' button macro to set rcutoff = me.txtcutoffdate.value?

Thank you,
Charlie Carroll
