I am trying to paste special a cell (A1) with the formatted result containing a calculation "=B2" and is formatted to show the date as a day. I.E 07/03/2011 formatted to show "Mon"

e.g. i have got cell A1 to look at Cell B1 (Contains Date) and formatted it using the custom function to "DDD"

I now want to copy and pastespecial the "day" in Cell A1 to A1 but it still recognises the date. Is there VBA that will do this and for any other cells in column A with the same sliding formula and format.

Save Often
If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes
Code:
[A1] = Application.WorksheetFunction.Text([A1], "ddd")

Or instead of VBA, you could put the following formula in A1 and copy down :-

=TEXT(B1,"DDD")
